We are excited to share that the Lower Mills Campus is a recipient of the ICE (Innovations in Catholic Education) Award! This is a National Award for Total Community Involvement, Including Fundraising. Last June, our school community built our beautiful playground in one day with over 200 volunteers. I was honored to attend the National Catholic Educator Conference (NCEA) in St Louis and receive the award from the magazine Managing Editor at Today's Catholic Teacher. This award is one representation of the strength, love and partnership of the Lower Mills Campus. Every student, family, teacher, staff member, volunteer and benefactor is a part of this award! Without YOU, this would not have been possible.

Our 2017 ICE (Innovations in Catholic Education) Awardee Banner is

proudly displayed above the front entrance of our school!

We are kicking off our first Fundraiser of the year! SJP2CA has partnered with Mixed Bags Designs. Mixed Bags offers gifts for all budgets! Please continue to check the Lower Mills twitter page! You can click on the twitter icon on the right hand side of this page to be directly linked. Many of our classroom teachers also have twitter pages! The Lower Mills Campus posts daily tweets that feature our academic excellence, faith based environment, social-emotional learning and our love for each and every one of our students! Teachers also have fabulous webpages. Please click on their name on the Lower Mills staff page and it will directly link you to their classroom webpage.

There have been many prospective students coming to visit. The most effective and meaningful way to spread the great news of SJP2CA is YOU! Word of mouth continues to outshine any other sources of advertising or flyers. Did you know that if you refer a family to SJP2CA and they enroll as a student, your family receives a $100 tuition credit after the first 3 months! Did you also know that there are NO limits as to how many families you can refer and receive the $100 tuition credit after they enroll? Imagine that you knew 5 families who you referred and they enrolled...that is $500!!! Please stop by the office for any Admission materials that you may need. We will have wait list classrooms again for the 2017-2018 school year, so please tell your family and friends to come and see us now! View our Admission tabs to review our Financial Aid and Tuition Information.

The Lower Mills Campus has been selected as the official Nike Community Ambassadors Program site for the 2017 school year! Nike Ambassadors describe their Program "as volunteers who provide quality coaching for kids in sport and physical activity, passing on their passion for sport to the next generation. Nike Community Ambassadors are inspiring and equipping students to be active for life." This will be a FREE after-school activity on Monday afternoons. The Lower Mills Campus is proud of our growth on our MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) standardized testing this year! Throughout the year, teachers have been spending many hours looking at data in Reading, Math and Language Use. MAP allows students to develop and reach their own personal goals. MAP testing is an online-based, standardized test that measures growth for each individual student. Because each student has their individual strengths and areas of growth, the testing report allows for the data to be broken down in specific ways to inform classroom instruction. Principals, Instructional Coaches and Teachers across the Academy spend many hours per week looking at the student data from these data cycles. The data cycles also align with our Professional Development Sessions, Grade Level Meetings and Instructional Leadership Meetings.Teachers will be working with students one on one and setting up Personal Student Goals for their data. #WeareMAP-tastic! #LowerMillsLovesData

We have continued to strengthen our partnerships with higher education institutions. Lower Mills is proud to share that we are a Teaching-Learning Site for Education students at Emmanuel College who are fulfilling their practicum hours for teaching certification. It is wonderful to have Emmanuel students here to talk to students about their journey to college and what their experiences are like!

We have continued our partnership with The Lynch Foundation Early Childhood Project. Our teachers continue to strengthen their Instructional Practices through coaching and observations, use of data through the GOLD Teaching Strategies model, curriculum Professional Development with OWL and Building Blocks as well as CSEFEL social-emotional growth practices. We are proud to share that due to our success in our Early Childhood Programming, both Pre-K sections as well as both K1 classrooms are currently at a wait list status!

The students and faculty recite this every morning at 7:30am together at Prayer Service. Please practice this prayer with your child at home:

SJP2CA Peace & Unity Prayer
Loving Savior, you sent me out to restore peace:
with my family, with my friends, and with my classmates.
AND with your guidance,
I will know how to be a peacemaker.
I can be courageous when it comes to reconciling with others.
Please give me your gift of peace and may we all be
united in you as we seek a better world.
Amen
