As part of the Catholic Schools Foundation gala, six students from the Lower Mills and Neponset Campuses helped to create a version of our campuses unity quilt made up of gala attendees. The students drew portraits of the dinner guests "live" using oil pastels. The campus unity quilts were made back in September when students discussed the Academy wide them of "Peace and Unity." They read the book "The Colors of Us" by Karen Katz and learned that any skin color can be mixed from 4 colors - red, yellow, black and white. The six students dedicated their time after school prior to the event to mix and paint skin color papers, practice their portrait drawing skills and paint backgrounds. Their hard work and dedication paid off as the students drew 70 plus portraits in less than 2 hours that night!
