Neponset Friends & Families,
Happy New Year and Welcome Back, SJP! We give thanks to God for this special time together with family and friends and look forward to an exciting school year ahead in 2018. Even though our school year began last September, January will feel like a second beginning for your SJP scholar -- presenting opportunities to reflect on the first half of the school year and set goals for 2018.
I remember creating New Year’s Resolutions in Mrs. Smith’s third grade classroom and sharing them later that night with my family. They shared their resolutions with me too and we sort of set up a buddy-system. I found myself inspired by my folks to work on my own resolutions and be more like them. They helped me become more organized and keep track of my school supplies (my mom was known for making weekly trips to the Lost and Found). I “helped” my family cut down on soda by pouring out the 3 bottles we had in the pantry! Whatever you and your scholar decide to set your goals upon, enter 2018 with an open mind, a loving heart, and a willingness to grow and learn from God and one another.
The month of January highlights our LOLEKS in their growth in their studies and as a community. Our second testing period for MAP begins January 8th, and we’re very excited to celebrate all of the growth our scholars have made in their classes this year. On Sunday, January 28th, Neponset will kick off Catholic Schools Week with our annual Open House Event from 11:30 to 1:00 AM. Our school family continues to grow, and this is a great opportunity to invite a friend who’s interested in St. John Paul and wants to see what makes our school community a terrific place for students to grow, achieve and succeed. January wraps up with our week long celebration of Catholic Education and our close-knit, faith-based community! Be on the lookout for more information about Catholic Schools Week in the weeks to come!
