Volunteer

Volunteers help students to open their minds and discover their talents. In a classroom of twenty students, a volunteer is able to work one-on-one with a child to help them grasp a difficult concept while their teacher tends to the classroom. Like long-time volunteer Tina, she helps out weekly in the classroom as an aide as well as a one-on-one tutor to students. Or we have Joanne, a young professional, who the students look forward to seeing once a month for a special story hour. Many volunteers work as tutors in afterschool and we even have a special group of women who hold a knitting club each week.

Volunteers come in all different hours and share their treasure in many ways. We couldn’t do what we do without their help.

They help make our students extraordinary.

There are many ways to become involved at Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy including one-time commitments, short term commitments and longer term commitments.

Some examples include:

  • Be a guest speaker in a classroom for career day
  • Lead professional development for teachers
  • Host a holiday drive for students
  • Tutor students or coach a basketball team after school
  • Lead an enrichment program or club after school
  • Serve on the Board of Trustees
