March is a month that showcases one of the holiest times of the liturgical year, Lent. The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer through prayer, doing penance,
repentance of sins, almsgiving, atonement, and self-denial. This event is observed in the Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Methodist, and Roman Catholic Churches. It is a 40 day journey of spiritual renewal and retreat through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Jack and Eileen Connors
Named in honor of Jack and Eileen Connors for their leadership in establishing Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy, a 1,100-student urban Catholic elementary school in Dorchester. This elite honor is periodically awarded by the Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy Trustees to recognize outstanding service to the Academy, specifically in the areas of leadership, administration, volunteerism, faith formation, fundraising, or teaching.
